Description
One Raffle Ticket – New World 75 – Vintage Cooker
The prize is for my Vintage New World Cooker, which I still use every day, all day.
A video of the cooker and all other physical prizes, are on Micro Skool – C8ke Studio YouTube Channel, for you to see.
The cooker is from the 1950’s, so its approx 75 years old.
This is the second exact same cooker that I have had of these in my years. I used to have one of them the last time I lived in Bristol, about 14 years ago. I only sold that one because I moved to a village where there was no gas, and so I didn’t need it anymore.
I seriously looked into getting the first one converted to LPG gas, and having the jets changed, but in the end I sold it to a lady in Bristol who was a 1950’s collector. Her home was full of 1950’s paraphenalia, when I delivered it to her. It was so lovely to see, and I knew she would love it like I did too.
When I moved back to Bristol 5 years ago, I got rid of my ‘modern’ cooker, becuase I just didnt like it, never jelled with it, and went onto ebay out of curiosity, to see if there was any other New World 75 cookers out there, and hey presto! There one was!
I bid on it, and no one else did, so it was mine.
A friend drove me to collect it in London, got it home, I then spent 16 hours cleaning it!!! I dont think is had been cleaned for over 40 years! It was caked in grease.
But I restored it, deep cleaned it, with a toothbrush and got the grease out of every nook and cranny, then had a gas safety check and the gas man installed it for me.
As you can see from the photos, it has some marks that I just couldnt scrub off ont he top, I used so many chemicals, and got it nearly back to new, but now after another 5 years of use, the oven is back to showing signs of use. Maybe more full power chemicals would restore the oven again, but it seems silly, when it would jsut get dirty again! haha.
I Love This Cooker… but I am yet again moving to a village, and there is no gas connection for it in the kitchen, so I wont need it.
It cooks so well, and is, like all things were back then, built to last. And it has… And it will 😉
Delivery of Raffle Prizes – to anywhere is an option, but my time and fuel costs, and travel back home, will need to be covered (if delivering a vehicle as a prize)
